About the Artist
Nathalie Godin (b. 1989) is a figurative oil painter and mother of four-year-old twins, based in Richmond, VA.
She picked up a paintbrush for the first time in late 2021 when she was in the trenches of early motherhood and longed for something to call her own. She taught herself to paint in oils and honed a talent that gave her a sense of self back. But ironically, the growth of her new skill was driven solely by one thing: her desire to paint her children.
Though her children continue to be her greatest muses, her work now explores the thoughts that consume her most as a mother: the perplexities of motherhood, the innocence of youth, and the relatability of everyday family life.
